The Reichmanns: Family, Faith, Fortune, and the Empire of Olympia & York

The Reichmann brothers (Olympia & York Ltd.) were legendary Canadian property developers until they went bankrupt in the late ’90s after taking on the Canary Wharf project in central London . It’s a story I’ve always found fascinating.
The photo is of the Purdy’s Wharf complex in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Reichmanns didn’t develop this project but they did own a stake in it. There is a significant Reichmann building in Edmonton which I’ve put on my photo-walk list for the spring.
